About Us
Simon Conder -
Started sailing at the age of 6 in a swallows and amazons type dinghy on the Norfolk Broads to being ranked in the Topper Worlds, Simon has spent years in and around the yachting industry both sailing and working, although there was a brief stint where he fell into the "university black hole" and enjoyed student/pub life too much to brave the cold waters of the Solent.
Simon did a season dinghy instructing in the South of France and then took to yachting/cruising in a Westerly Centaur on the Solent in more recent years. Since joining Sunsail and returning to various resorts on holiday, he has re-found his passion for dinghy and especially Hobie sailing and was easily convinced by Matt to join him on his mad capped scheme, "before it's to late!!"
Matt Illston -
Ever since he was old enough to climb onto a sailing boat at the Brighton Marina Boat Show, he wanted one. Unfortunately his parents thought that a yacht was a bit too much for a christmas present for an 8 year old, so an action man command centre was gratefully accepted instead...
That didn't stop him pining for the water in later life, and now a keen cat sailor, he's making up for it as often as possible. It was Matt's daft idea to sail from London to Brighton non stop - so he's only himself to blame if it all goes 'tit's up'...
