Diabetes UK - The charity for people with Diabetes.

Why Diabetes?

We chose Diabetes UK as both of us having a strong connection with this charity, having close members of our family who have both forms of the condition (Type 1 and 2).

"In addition, I was given a scare by a doctor who told me that I could have a form of pancreatitis, which usually leads to Diabetes. During the few days of coming to terms with this possibility, I became fully aware of what having the condition would mean and was unsurprisingly amazed at what people with the condition have to live with 24/7. Fortunately, I was given the all clear, but I will never forget those few days and vowed to do what I could to help other people with the condition." (Matt)

• Diabetes is serious. If left untreated if can lead to heart disease, stroke, amputation and other life threatening complications.
• Diabetes is the leading cause of blindness in people of working age.
• The cost of diabetes to the NHS is £5 billion annually...

 

Diabetes UK is the largest organisation in the UK working for people with diabetes, funding research, campaigning and helping people live with the condition.
