That's right, we've finished - finally after 1 year of planning, plenty of fundraising and a surprising amount of organisation, we've sailed a Hobie Cat from London to Brighton - would I do it again?

.... the boys left at 06:31am this morning, and are on their way to Brighton Pier. The wind forcast is light so their ETA could be anytime after 8.30pm today. Forecast is not looking great for this weekend and we have decided that we will not be going on the 15th as planned, as conditions are predicted to me no more than 6 knots of wind from about midday onwards... 

Well, last weekend Lorna and I went to meet the team at Brighton Sailing Club, braving the 40,000 bikers who were also on their way to Brighton, although thankfully not the sailing club!!.

Ann Ashworth, MSc RD R.SEN Accredited Sports Dietician and Registered Sports and Exercise Nutritionist has given us advice on how to prepare for our event and how to fuel ourselves throughout our 'ordeal'...

Due to the conditions this weekend, which is forecast for a constant westerly, and only 6-8 knots of wind, we have decided to delay are attempt until the 15th September, when the tide will again be right, we pray the wind will be as well. Keep visiting our site for the latest updates.

We've worked out roughly how long it will take to complete the challenge given each possible wind direction.......

We have finally confirmed the night of Wednesday 22nd August at Ye Olde Whyte Harte in Hamble for our fundraising event. We have a large selection of goodies which have very kindly been donated. Ranging from Golf lessons to bolle sunglasses......so come along from 7pm and help us raise some money for Diabetes UK...

During the course of the London2Brighton project, we've managed to raise the profile of the event in a number of publications and websites... Our website has been nice and busy too with over 2,000 unique visitors since we launched the site earlier this year.

Wet & Wild, the boat graphics company have branded up the sail, and have provided the logos for the hulls which we are yet to put on. Simon and I took her out for a spin in her new colours last night to see if sponsorship logos really do make you go faster...

Really wanted to say a huge thanks to the JPS Group who are helping us raise money by printing some marketing material for us, and will hopefully allow us to generate more funds for our endeavour..

Just wanted to congratulate Matt and Anna on the wedding day (Saturday 16th) and wish them both the best for their future together. He survived a very amusing stag night where we went sailing from Portsmouth to Cowes dressed as....

Great news!! We have confirmed that we will be having a support team with us for the challenge who will be following us around the course, to assist with any unforseen events that may occur!!. 

[Report from the BBC] The number of young children with Type 1 diabetes has risen dramatically in the last 20 years, a study suggests. The number of under-fives with the condition increased five-fold - meaning it affected one child in every 1,000 by 2004, a study around Oxford found.

We have launched the project at the Dinghy Show in Alexandra Palace this weekend. Sponsors and Supporters were all keen to find out more about the challenge and have been giving us kind words of advice - most think we are completely mad though!
