First Sail...

Simon and I popped over to Poole today to take out the boat for the first time. It's the first time that either of us have sailed a Tiger, despite plenty of experience in other boats, so we were very excited as we pulled into Rockley Park...

The forecast was for a Westerly force 5, so we were hoping for an exhilerating sail. We got there and after a cup of tea, we rigged up the boat and slipped into our drysuits.

The wind was feeling pretty strong, but despite a slight mishap putting the boat into the water I headed out with Steve Beard to test her out.

It was pretty soon apparent that the wind out in the harbour was much stronger, shifty and gusty. We headed up wind on the wire for a few minutes before deciding that the conditions really were too windy for putting up the kite! We got a couple of runs in up and downwind, managing 18.1 knots with the jib furled and the main just sitting there...

We headed back in beaten slightly by the weather, slightly disappointed, but glad that we gave it a go.

When we headed inside, we found out that the wind had been gusting up to force 7 - oops...

Still - very good fun while it lasted!
