Decision Made on Challenge Date
We've worked out roughly how long it will take to complete the challenge given each possible wind direction.......
Take a look at the page I've written about calculating our estimated speed - it is an interesting topic if you're into that sort of thing!
Basically this has told us that we need some pretty special wind conditions to be able to set a decent time (and so we don't have to spend over 24 hours on the boat!)

This graph shows the estimated time taken in minutes with a Force 3/4 wind. The directions on the graph indicate the wind direction, and the area in the middle indicates how long it will take in minutes.
This shows that to set a decent time we need a wind from either the North (preferably) or the South.
We are setting the challenge for 1st September, and will need to leave on a high tide at Greenwich at 05:15. However with the weather being so tempermental we have 2 back up weekends with suitable tides in September of the 15th and 29th.
On the Thursday before the 1st, depending on the weather, we will make a go / no go decision for either the Saturday or the Sunday.
If we say no go, then we'll push back 2 weeks and repeat the process. If the weather conditions are not favourable on the 2nd weekend, we will push back again 2 weeks.

We hope to be able to take to the water on the 1st in suitable conditions however we are prepared for the weather to not "play ball", and have had to put these back up plans in place, but be assured we will be going at the first available opportunity.
